Senior Social Worker – Assessments TeamSalary: £50,574 + £2,500 Recruitment Bonus + £2,500 Annual Retention BonusLocation: London Borough of Barking and DagenhamHours: 35 per weekWe are recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to join the Assessments Team at Barking and Dagenham Council. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to step into a senior role, supporting children and families while mentoring junior colleagues and leading on complex cases.About the Role As a Senior Social Worker in the Assessments Team, you will:
- Carry out timely and effective statutory assessments for children and families.
- Manage complex caseloads, including child protection, children in care, and family proceedings.
- Lead on areas of specialism such as advanced court work skills or practice education.
- Support student and newly qualified social workers through shadowing, mentoring and practice education.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners across health, education, police, and voluntary services.
- Ensure high-quality recording, analysis, and reflection, capturing the voice of the child throughout your practice.
- Drive systemic practice across the service and contribute to continuous improvement.
About You To be successful, you will need:
- A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
- At least 3 years’ post-qualifying statutory social work experience within children’s services.
- Strong assessment and analytical skills, with a proven record in safeguarding, child protection, and care proceedings.
- Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills.
- The ability to provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to less experienced colleagues.
