LHH is delighted to be partnered with a leading groundworks and civil engineering business as they seek an experienced and proactive Senior Site Engineer to join their team covering Central Scotland. This is a pivotal role that requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to support the successful delivery of civil engineering projects across various sites.
As a Senior Site Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering workloads and prioritising resource allocation across multiple projects. You will maintain regular communication with site engineers, ensuring smooth coordination and timely updates to engineering allocation sheets and project tracking documents. Your role will involve close collaboration with construction directors and managers to discuss site progress and resolve any technical challenges.
You will be expected to produce and maintain accurate 2D digital maps using AutoCAD, covering key site elements such as roads, drainage, foundations, piling platforms, and more. Supporting engineers with technical site issues and reviewing completed surveys before client submission will be part of your daily responsibilities. Attendance at client, pre-start, and internal departmental meetings is essential to ensure alignment and effective communication across teams.
The successful candidate will also be involved in preparing engineering documentation including RFIs, tender reviews, and technical reports such as Traffic Management Plans, Surface Water Management Plans, and Health & Safety site plans. You will oversee the review of site documentation, manage your workload effectively, and contribute to the completion of as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
In addition, you will mentor and support trainee engineers. ensuring quality checks are carried out across sites. Responsible for problem-solving at site level, reviewing drainage take-offs, and identifying opportunities for value engineering.
Candidates should hold a relevant engineering qualification, with a degree-level education being desirable. Strong AutoCAD skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to engineering challenges are essential for success in this role. Experience of groundworks, understanding of residential housing developments and broader civil engineering sectors including industrial and commercial projects.
