Job Title: Senior R&D Tax Consultant (UK-Based, US-Focused)

Location: Remote (UK-Based)

Salary: Up to £65,000 basic performance bonus

Our client, a leading R&D Tax and Innovation Incentives consultancy, is expanding into the U.S. market and is seeking a Senior R&D Tax Consultant to support this exciting phase of international growth.

This is a UK-based, remote role, ideal for a seasoned consultant with proven experience preparing both technical and financial aspects of R&D tax credit claims, particularly for clients operating under U.S. tax regulations.

• Lead and manage the preparation of robust R&D tax credit claims for U.S.-based clients.
• Write and review high-quality technical narratives across a range of sectors (e.g., software, engineering, manufacturing).
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to gather and analyse cost data, ensuring accurate and compliant financial documentation.
• Translate complex technical and financial information into compelling, audit-ready R&D reports.
• Advise clients on the U.S. R&D tax incentive framework, ensuring full compliance with IRS guidelines.
• Contribute to process development as our client builds their presence in the U.S. market.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of both UK and U.S. R&D tax legislation.

• Minimum 4–5 years’ experience preparing R&D tax claims, including both technical and cost elements.
• At least 2 years of experience working on U.S. R&D tax claims (federal and/or state level).
• Strong understanding of IRS regulations and U.S. tax credit methodology.
• Ability to engage confidently with technical stakeholders across multiple industries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with accounting or engineering/software development backgrounds would be beneficial.
