Job Description :

If you're the kind of person who likes everything to line up perfectly, every invoice matched, every query resolved, every supplier paid on time, this one's perfect.

This isn't a data-entry role. It's about taking real ownership of the purchase ledger function: keeping it accurate, efficient, and compliant. You'll be the go-to person for resolving issues, improving processes, and ensuring the finance team always has the right information at the right time.

You'll work as part of a collaborative finance team within a busy, fast-paced business environment the kind where your input genuinely makes a difference.

What you'll be doing:

  • Overseeing day-to-day purchase ledger operations across multiple sites or cost centres
  • Processing and matching invoices, purchase orders, and goods receipts with precision (3-way matching)
  • Investigating discrepancies and working with internal teams to resolve issues quickly
  • Managing supplier relationships and ensuring payments are made accurately and on schedule
  • Performing supplier statement reconciliations and maintaining clean, up-to-date ledgers
  • Coordinating invoice approvals and coding processes to ensure compliance with company policy
  • Supporting the month-end close with accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Assisting with system improvements and contributing to process efficiency projects
  • Providing guidance and support to junior team members where needed

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in purchase ledger or accounts payable, ideally at a senior level
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with suppliers, buyers, and internal stakeholders
  • Solid Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP experience is a plus)
  • Experience in manufacturing or a similar environment preferred
  • The ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines in a fast-moving setting

What's in it for you:

  • £28,000-£32,000 depending on experience
  • 30 days' holiday (plus bank holidays)
  • Private medical cover and a strong pension scheme
  • A supportive finance team where accuracy and improvement are genuinely valued
  • The chance to take ownership of a key finance function and make it your own
