Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Northampton (on-site)
Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role
Ranheat Engineering designs and manufactures industrial biomass boilers, combustion chambers, conveyors, and sheet-metal fabrications from our factory in Northampton.
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our design team, working directly with our production and installation teams to develop and adapt our systems for customers across the UK.
This is an on-site role based at our Northampton factory.
Applicants must live locally or be willing to relocate.
Remote-only applicants will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and adapt sheet-metal assemblies, boilers, combustion chambers, conveyors and silos.
- Use Autodesk Inventor (and AutoCAD for legacy drawings) to produce accurate 3D models and manufacturing drawings.
- Apply thermodynamic and mechanical design principles to optimise performance and reliability.
- Modify existing assemblies for customer-specific installations and site layouts.
- Work closely with fabrication and installation teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth installation.
- Visit customer sites for surveys and commissioning when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical design (4+ years preferred).
- Good understanding of thermodynamics and sheet-metal fabrication.
- Proficient with Autodesk Inventor; AutoCAD experience an advantage.
- Comfortable working hands-on and engaging directly with the factory.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site work.
- Interest in industrial automation or control systems (training provided).
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
