Your new companyA leading engineering and manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and delivery of bespoke process equipment and handling systems. This role offers a broad range of design responsibilities across varied projects involving custom-built machinery and engineered assemblies for regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for bespoke mechanical equipment and components
- Generate engineering documentation including process diagrams, design specifications, and fabrication drawings
- Assist in the specification of components and assemblies based on functional requirements and industry standards
- Undertake technical evaluations such as risk and safety assessments in line with project needs
- Liaise with suppliers, fabricators, and internal teams to ensure alignment from design through to delivery
- Support project activities including testing documentation, build support, and handover materials
- Communicate effectively with engineering, project, and commercial teams to maintain accurate workflows and timelines
Candidate Profile
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Proficient in the use of CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor)
- Experience designing mechanical systems used in controlled or regulated environments
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing methods, and engineering documentation
- A methodical and practical problem-solver with good organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable working through all stages of a project lifecycle
