I’m currently working with a global leader in innovative aerospace and defence solutions who are expanding their engineering team and have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their facility in Reading.The Role: As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of high-performance, cutting-edge products. You will take projects from concept through to manufacture, ensuring all design solutions meet customer and safety requirements.Key Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret customer requirements and specifications.
• Develop concept and prototype designs that align with project needs.
• Produce effective and innovative design solutions.
• Perform mechanical design calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
• Create and manage 3D models and produce accurate 2D drawings.
• Lead full lifecycle product development — from initial design to manufacturing handover.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including datasheets, reports, and installation instructions.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior mechanical engineering role.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor Pro or similar).
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and calculations.
• Familiarity with engineering documentation and standards.
• Must be able to pass the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
