• To be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Engineering, Metallurgy or comparable through experience.
• Previous experience (minimum 5 years) working in a laboratory or materials testing environment.
• Familiarity with experimental techniques for materials analysis, e.g. mechanical testing, optical microscopy, electron microscopy and surface characterisation techniques.
• Appreciation of quality management, problem-solving methodologies, failure investigations and process improvement techniques.

What you'll be doing:

• Playing a leading role in the delivery of strategic technology, innovation and growth projects with clients, research partners and extended industry stakeholders around the world.
• Undertaking research and technology development project work involving a high degree of specialist knowledge, including the application of sound experimental and computational skills.
• Working closely with colleagues, customers, research partners and industry stakeholders to deliver commercially successful outcomes.
• Maintaining up-to-date expert knowledge of industrial products, processes, technologies and analytical techniques to ensure the business is always able to offer industry-leading services.
• Representing the employer at conferences, trade shows and other industry events to promote key products and services.
• Developing and delivering customer-focused technical proposals, which are both cost-effective and timely, to existing and new facilities within the industry.
