Job DescriptionLGIM Private Credit has rapidly grown its activities in Alternative Debt in recent years and has developed a position as a leading institutional investor in this area. This has been primarily on behalf of existing clients but expanded in 2020 with the establishment of a UK short dated credit fund with the second iteration of this fund strategy launched very recently, as the first fund out of LGIM's new Luxembourg platform. Alternative Debt at LGIM encompasses a wide range of structured finance and other esoteric asset classes ranging from trade finance and capital call facilities at the short end to derivatives, cashflow monetisation's (lease, royalty or other payments) and insured transactions (including debt for nature swaps and similar transactions) at the long end of the spectrum and a wide variety of investments in between We are ideally looking for an Investment Associate, or Senior Investment Associate, to support this growth in a team that is currently small relative to its targets and the complexity of opportunities. Duties include: Principal accountabilities
  • The role will support the origination and execution of investment opportunities for Alternative Debt that are suitable for LGIM clients.
  • This will involve assisting in building relationships internally and with market counterparties to access the broadest pool of opportunities and, together with other team members, filter these to provide prospective investments that can be recommended to clients.
  • Support the team in the necessary due diligence, credit and investment assessment and investment paper submissions to Private Credit Investment Committee and any other governance committee required, presenting to such committees where appropriate.
  • Assist the team in negotiating and executing transactions in line with client requirements to obtain best value.
  • Where investments are approved provide the necessary transaction booking support and subsequent reporting and asset management requirements. Assist in pro-actively managing existing investments through engagement with borrowers and review of financial and other relevant information.
  • Support the externalisation of client funds able to be invested including through the growth of the short dated private credit fund and other segregated mandates
QualificationsKey behaviours required:

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience of writing and presenting information
  • Organised and self motivated
  • Diligence and accuracy in terms of data analysis and written reporting
Skills Required:
  • Knowledge and experience of credit risk either in another asset manager, bank or other financial institution, market intermediary or law firm
  • Knowledge and experience of at least some structured finance products and the ability to utilise this experience across a wider range of asset classes
