Reed Accountancy is delighted to be working with a highly respected organisation in the Education Sector, currently recruiting for a Senior Finance Officer to join their friendly and supportive finance team.

  • Location: Stockton

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Contract: Full-time, Temporary-to-Permanent

About the Role

This is more than just a temporary assignment — it's a chance to secure a long-term career in a well-established organisation. You’ll lead a small team of two Finance Officers and work closely with the Group Head of Finance to ensure financial operations run smoothly and compliantly.

Your focus will be on purchase ledger and financial administration, helping maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the purchase ledger function to maximise budget efficiency.

  • Process purchase orders, invoices, credit notes, and payment runs in line with financial regulations.

  • Manage student bursary payments and reconcile petty cash and credit card transactions.

  • Oversee staff expense claims and ensure accurate bank reconciliations.

  • Monitor supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.

  • Reconcile balance sheet control accounts and supervise Finance Assistants.

  • Liaise with auditors and contribute to audit readiness.

  • Continuously improve financial systems and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Support budget holders with financial monitoring and reporting.
