This is a newly created role focused on supporting our Supply Chain and Logistics team in managing costs and driving efficiency across our distribution network.

Purpose of Role \ Key Accountabilities

  • Manage a team of three people, overseeing financial reporting for the Supply Chain and Logistics cost center.
  • Actively contribute to Depot period reviews, challenging costs and driving productivity improvements.
  • Interpret and analyse Depot performance weekly, comparing actuals against budget and volume-flexed forecasts.
  • Conduct scenario planning to assess the impact of potential operational and productivity changes on costs and service within the distribution network.
  • Support the budgeting and half-yearly forecasting process by collaborating closely with the Depots and the internal Iceland Logistics team.
  • Contribute to short, medium, and long-term cost forecasts, with a solid understanding of how current trading and Depot operational performance may affect costs relative to the budget.
  • Assist the Logistics Director in contract negotiations across the distribution network.
  • Review and challenge commercial proposals, identifying risks and opportunities in comparison to the budget

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience/Technical Skills

·         Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).

·         Industry Experience within the Distribution sector is highly advantageous

·         Previous experience managing a finance team is essential.

·         Successful candidates will be able to thrive in a fast paced environment working environment

·         Strong commercial awareness and numeracy skills with a keen desire to question and challenge information.

·         Experience and evidence of communicating/presenting financial performance to senior stakeholders, with a desire to influence decision making

·         Advanced Excel skills are essential, with previous experience of analysing large volumes of data
