Hays are recruiting a highly skilled Senior Finance Business Analyst to join our team on a 6-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-impact public sector projects, within Safety or Highways services.

About the Role As Senior Finance Business Analyst, you will:

• Deputise for the Finance Manager, making decisions and taking appropriate action across a range of financial matters.
• Resolve complex financial issues independently within the Birmingham City Council framework.
• Lead and supervise a finance team, including work allocation, performance management, development, and recruitment.
• Oversee long-term project plans (3+ months), ensuring successful delivery and alignment with strategic goals.
• Support strategic and business planning, ensuring service expectations are met within the Business Plan.
• Monitor and review service direction, ensuring compliance with business plans and council objectives.
• Drive performance, ensuring the team meets key performance indicators (KPIs).

Essential Requirements

• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
• Experience working within a local authority, ideally in Safety or Highways services.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex financial projects and lead teams effectively.
