About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic in-house building services team within a well-established construction contractor. This role is ideal for a technically proficient engineer with a strong background in residential projects and proven expertise using Revit for electrical design and coordination.
You will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems for multi-unit residential developments, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and sustainability targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed electrical design drawings and schematics using Revit and other relevant software.
- Lead or support the electrical design process from concept through to construction and handover.
- Coordinate with internal design teams (mechanical, architectural, structural) and external consultants to ensure integrated and clash-free designs.
- Prepare technical specifications, calculations, and schedules in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Support on-site construction teams with technical guidance and respond to RFIs and design queries.
- Conduct value engineering exercises and design reviews to optimise project delivery.
- Ensure designs meet current British Standards, Building Regulations, and sustainability criteria (e.g., Part L, SAP, etc.).
- Attend design and coordination meetings as required.
Requirements:
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical design within the residential construction sector.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP is essential.
- Familiarity with other design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, Dialux/Relux).
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations, IET wiring regulations (BS7671), and other relevant standards.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable:
- Experience working for or alongside main contractors or design-and-build environments.
- Knowledge of sustainable electrical design and low-carbon technologies.
