Senior DevOps Engineer UK Government Defence/Aerospace - Salt Search : Job Details

I am currently partnered with a UK Government Defence & Aerospace Agency who are looking to hire 3x Senior Devops Engineers into their Core Cloud team.

The successful candidates will all need to have active Security Clearance & the roles are hybrid with a 60/40 split between office & home with multiple UK office locations that you will be able to work from.

Initial contract will be for 12-months & is inside IR35, paying a maximum of £760 per day DOE.

The Core Cloud team is responsible for building a new strategic hosting platform using Amazon Web Services.

They are taking a product-centric approach and are building squads around their products.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will be leading a squad responsible for the design and implementation of one or more of the products which make up their platform.

You will also be contributing to their ways of working and advocating solutions that are resilient, secure, scalable, and enable self-service.

The platform is built using AWS Landing Zone Accelerator and is based on the Trusted Secure Enclaves - Sensitive Edition reference architecture & are using GitHub Actions for their pipeline automation.

Your main day to day will involve:

• Working with the senior leadership team to define, evolve and improve their product roadmaps.
• Contributing to the team's continuous improvement and ways of working.
• Working with Security, Architecture, and other stakeholders to design and build end to end platform capability.
• Working as part of the platform team to build and elaborate the backlog and sprints.
• Scoping and participating in spikes and defining best practice.
• Leading the build effort, including runbooks, automation, observability, and self-service.
• Guiding and mentoring other members of the squad.

Skills & Experience

• Designing solutions using AWS products and services.
• Knowledge of the Well-Architected framework.
• AWS Landing Zone Accelerator.
• Custom Amazon Machine Images.
• CloudFormation, Terraform and AWS Service Catalogue.
• GitHub Actions and Typescript.

You will / might be required to participate in an on-call rota, and you may occasionally be required to work out of usual office hours to implement certain technical changes.
