Job Title: Interim Senior Design Engineer - Drainage

Location: West Yorkshire, UK

Duration: Temporary/Interim

As the Interim Senior Design Engineer - Drainage, you will provide independent technical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and other drainage schemes. You will play a key role in delivering infrastructure projects, using your knowledge and experience to develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and other drainage schemes, applying your knowledge of infrastructure design and development principles.
  • Take the lead on significant elements of drainage-related design work, either independently or as part of multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist with project management activities, collaborating with various stakeholders to deliver engineering schemes effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide technical input and design for highway projects, ensuring compliance with Highway England standards, Manual for Streets, and Local Authority guidance related to drainage and highway engineering.

Knowledge and Experience Needed

  • Proficiency in flood risk engineering practices, procedures, and regulations, with a focus on drainage design and planning processes.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and industry-standard software packages such as AutoCAD, Micro Drainage, Infoworks, and Hydro Works.
  • Familiarity with cost estimation for products and services within the delivery and procurement of flood risk engineering schemes.
  • Knowledge of modeling and engineering software packages such as MX and AutoCAD Civil3D, with an understanding of Highways and Pavement design to UK DMRB standards.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in Flood Risk Engineering & Assessment, Sustainable Urban Drainage Design, and Highway Design.
  • Relevant academic qualifications, including a degree in Civil Engineering, Flood Risk Engineering, or a related field.
  • Membership or working towards membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
