Our client is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to drive the growth and success of their Civil Engineering team. In this role, you’ll oversee the design and delivery of development sites, manage day-to-day project operations, and ensure the highest technical standards are met. With responsibility for mentoring junior staff and fostering trusted client relationships, you’ll play a key part in upholding their values of Precision Crafting and On Solid Ground. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Responsible for leading and managing civil engineering projects, including design, planning, construction oversight, and technical analysis.
- Prepare or check technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments and method statements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulations in all design work.
- Review and evaluation of design concepts to optimize performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.
- Continually strive for organisational improvement through championing improved systems and operations.
- Adhere and contribute to the company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Build resilient and trusting relationships with high value clients.
- Collaborate with the wider team and clients to understand project requirements, constraints and opportunities.
- Attend design team and client meetings, adding valuable insights as required.
- Deliver excellent client service through effective communication, exemplar project delivery and your subject matter expertise.
- Maintain high technical standards taking pride in all client work.
- Actively manage and lead those reporting to you; provide support and encouragement of their continuing professional development in line with their goals for the year and in line with the department vision.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design challenges, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
- Proactively identify learning opportunities relevant to your role and those reporting to you.
- Actively participate in company reviews and goal setting sessions.
- Contribute to the continual update and improvement of company processes and procedures.
- Share relevant insights with the wider business.
- Complete and submit weekly timesheets.
- Prepare fee estimates and quotes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date forecasting of on-going projects financials and resourcing needs.
- Manage monthly invoicing of your projects.
- Cultivate and grow your professional network.
- Build and maintain a social presence as a subject matter expert in your field
- Identify and attend networking events to promote awareness of AAH
- Identify opportunities to provide resource to other departments within the business
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven consultancy experience with exposure to a variety of sectors such as housing development, energy infrastructure, and highways.
- Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build trusted, lasting relationships.
- Technical proficiency in Civil 3D design, earthworks modelling, and drainage network modelling.
- Additional knowledge in Flood Risk Assessments, CAD, and Transport Assessments is advantageous.
- Excellent report writing and project management skills, with the ability to manage workloads and deliverables independently.
- A natural mentor and coach, supporting the growth and development of junior engineers.
- The ability to collaborate effectively across teams and nurture positive internal and external relationships.
