About the Role

Lewisham Council is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Business Support Officer to provide high-quality administrative and project support within the council's directorates. This role will primarily support the Housing Service, but you may also provide support across other directorates as required.

You will play a vital role in ensuring services are delivered efficiently, helping to coordinate repairs, manage data, and maintain strong relationships with residents, contractors, and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a wide range of administrative and business support tasks, from routine clerical work to complex project support.

  • Manage and track housing repair works, liaising with residents, contractors, surveyors, and other stakeholders.

  • Support the planning and coordination of complex repairs, damp, and mould projects, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with council policies.

  • Collate, produce, and maintain management information, reports, and statistics to support decision-making.

  • Organise meetings, statutory visits, case conferences, events, and training, including preparation of papers and logistics.

  • Provide financial administrative support, including processing payments, raising purchase orders, and preparing budget reports.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with safeguarding, data protection, and health and safety standards.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of administrative systems and processes.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience providing comprehensive administrative support, delivering core business processes, and handling confidential issues.

  • Skills: Strong ICT skills (Microsoft Office, databases, spreadsheets), excellent verbal and written communication, strong organisational and time-management skills.

  • Knowledge: Understanding of local government operations, housing services, and the legal/financial framework of public sector services.

  • Personal Qualities: Proactive, customer-focused, flexible, able to work under pressure, and committed to equality and diversity.
