The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable Bookkeeper to join our Manchester head office team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a growing practice while developing your career in a supportive and dynamic environment. The role is office-based with flexibility on working hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with managing and mentoring a team, including trainees

  • Support the training and development of team members

  • Plan and oversee client compliance work

  • Prepare accounts, VAT returns, and related reporting

  • Manage workflow, work allocation, and strict deadlines

  • Report to senior managers and participate in team meetings

  • Liaise with HMRC and other external organisations

  • Handle client queries and general ad hoc duties

Qualifications & Experience
  • AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice (essential)

Technical Experience
  • Bookkeeping for multiple clients

  • VAT preparation and submission

  • Payroll understanding

  • Accounts preparation

  • Managing client queries and meetings

  • Liaising with HMRC and third parties

  • Supervising or mentoring junior team members

Key Skills
  • Proficiency in Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, DEXT, Sage Cloud Accounting

  • Strong IT skills: Excel, Word, Email, PowerPoint, Internet

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Confident dealing with clients and external organisations

Working Hours
  • 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

  • Flexible between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm (office-based)
