Senior API Designer/Architect sought by global payments organisation based in the city of London.

**Inside IR35 - Umbrella/PAYE - Hybrid working**

We are looking for a skilled API Designer to join our team and play a key role in designing and developing robust and scalable APIs for our software products. The API Designer will work closely with cross-functional teams including software engineers, product managers and UX designers to understand requirements and design APIs that meet business needs while adhering to best practices and industry standards.

Candidate must have proven experience as an API Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful API designs and implementations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, architect, configure, review, validate and deliver APIs.
• Ensure API design follows best practices and industry standards, including REST principles, versioning, documentation, and security.
• Collaborate and work with multiple service providers internally and externally for the APIs design
• Proactively provide recommendations to customers for operational excellence
• Follows up on issues and sets up meetings when needed for a quicker turn around.
• Maintain documentation for the technical deliverables when applicable.
• Prepare and participate in presentation and demonstrations of developed solutions.
• Participate in agile meetings such as but not limited to: sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily status meetings, story pointing.
• Effectively communicate issues and risks in a timely manner.

Required skills:

• 10+ years of professional Api Design and maintenance experience.
• Deep understanding of Api Lifecycle, governance, process/workflow and guidelines design.
• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs that are efficient, scalable, and maintainable.
• Deep understanding of API specifications, including endpoints, request and response formats, authentication mechanisms, and error handling
• Deep understanding industry trends and advancements in API design, architecture, and technology
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Excellent understanding and awareness of modern Api tooling like Swagger Hub, Postman, Open Api code-generator, etc …

The following skills are a plus:

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
