Senior Accountant - Audit, Tax & Accounts

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Preparation
- Prepare statutory year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, sole traders, LLPs, and pension schemes
- Work with trial balances and incomplete records using various accounting software (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
- Manage budgeting and planning processes while maintaining direct client relationships
- Review and finalise reporting packages in collaboration with senior management
Audit Services
- Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and establish materiality thresholds
- Perform on-site audit procedures including stock counts and substantive testing
- Complete analytical reviews and ensure professional audit file standards
Tax Compliance
- Prepare VAT returns, personal tax computations, and corporation tax calculations
- Handle P11D preparations and provide general tax advisory support
Team Leadership
- Supervise and review work of junior staff members
- Provide technical guidance and resolve complex queries
- Mentor semi-senior and junior colleagues to support their professional development
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across the firm's service offerings
Essential Requirements
- Qualification: ACA/ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
- Experience: Post-qualification experience, preferably in accountancy practice
- Client Focus: Experience working with owner-managed businesses across multiple sectors
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software including Sage, Xero, CCH, VT, and QuickBooks
- Leadership: Proven experience in staff supervision and team development
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organisation: Strong organisational abilities with attention to detail
