About the role…

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our financial operations and driving our financial success. You will assist the Council’s section 151 Officer and the Chief Accountant with leading on the development and continuous improvement of the Council’s financial reporting framework, including forecasting activities and supporting the Council’s Collection fund, VAT management and developing improved statement of accounts.

You need to have great interpersonal skills as maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels is key. Ensuring that the statutory reporting deadlines are achieved and working under tight deadlines is an important aspect of this role. You will need…

  • A relevant professional qualification (CCAB qualified)
  • Significant post qualification experience in the public sector, in-depth knowledge of Local Government Finance (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience of working at a senior level in a finance team or working as the finance lead on major corporate projects
