Senior Accountant | Fully Remote - AJ Chambers : Job Details

Role Summary

AJ Chambers are pleased to be working with a forward-thinking accountancy firm that is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to play a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s future and supporting ambitious growth plans.

The practice currently has a client base of over 180 limited companies (plus the same number of tax returns) ranging from SMEs to larger clients (average £5-6M turnover, largest at £11M). You’ll gain exposure to complex and engaging work, from UK subsidiaries of overseas parent companies to specialist sectors such as manufacturing and distribution.

The team is ambitious, close-knit, and forward-looking. With recent structural changes, this role offers genuine influence, clear career progression, and even the potential for future directorship or employee buyout.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on accounts preparation, compliance, and advisory for a wide-ranging client base

• Support and mentor junior staff (ACA/ACCA trainees) as they progress through qualification

• Build strong relationships with clients, offering commercial insights and growth support

• Contribute to the firm’s long-term strategic vision and expansion plans

• Occasionally attend client sites or the firm’s base in Hertfordshire (within 45 minutes ideal)

Desirable Experience

• ACA qualified (preferred), though strong ACCA-qualified candidates will be considered

• Audit background welcome, with full training in accounts available

• Based within easy reach of Hertfordshire (though the role is primarily fully remote)
