About the School & Role

This well-resourced specialist setting in Barking caters to students with a wide range of needs, including autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and the SENCO to deliver tailored support and inclusive learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN across a range of subjects
  • Implement strategies in line with EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Assist the class teacher in preparing and adapting learning materials
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through established behaviour strategies
  • Support the development of social and communication skills through interactive learning
  • Monitor and record pupil progress in collaboration with teaching and therapeutic staff
What We’re Looking For

  • Have experience working in a school or SEN setting (e.g., TA, LSA, youth worker, care assistant)
  • Are passionate about inclusive education and supporting children with diverse needs
  • Are patient, proactive, and flexible in their approach to support
  • Can confidently build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Are willing to learn and develop professionally within a supportive team
Desirable (But Not Essential)
  • Knowledge or experience using PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, SEMH, ADHD or complex needs
  • Background in social care, psychology, or youth/community work
