Are you a nurturing educator with a passion for making a difference?

A specialist independent school in Surrey is seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teacher to join their team, supporting a small Year 4 class of four boys with autism and sensory processing needs. This is a rare opportunity to work in a highly personalised setting where your impact will be immediate and deeply meaningful.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to the individual needs of each pupil. With a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, sensory regulation, and communication, your teaching will go beyond academics—helping pupils build confidence, independence, and life skills.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a nurturing environment, values teamwork, and is committed to inclusive education. You’ll be supported by a skilled multidisciplinary team and benefit from small class sizes that allow for truly personalised learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
  • Create a safe, structured, and sensory-aware classroom environment.
  • Use evidence-based strategies to support pupils with autism and sensory needs.
  • Collaborate with therapists, support staff, and families to ensure holistic care.
  • Track progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised learning plans.
  • Promote emotional regulation, social development, and independence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with autism and sensory processing differences.
  • A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach to teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive, child-centred education.
  • Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle due to location and potential travel.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Additional SEN qualifications or training (e.g. TEACCH, PECS, sensory integration).
  • Experience in small-group or 1:1 teaching environments.
  • Familiarity with EHCP processes and multi-agency collaboration.

Why Join Us?

  • Small class sizes for focused, impactful teaching.
  • Supportive leadership and a collaborative team culture.
  • Access to ongoing professional development and training.
  • A chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with complex needs.

If you’re ready to inspire, support, and grow alongside a team that values compassion and creativity, we’d love to hear from you.
