SEN Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join our team, working with children who have complex needs, including autism and ASD. This role is initially offered on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent. It is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children requiring specialized educational support.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with complex needs, including autism and ASD.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural support plans.
- Use a variety of techniques and tools to support sensory, cognitive, and emotional development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote holistic support tailored to each child’s needs.
- Monitor and record the children's progress, adapting techniques as necessary to optimize learning outcomes.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment to help children feel comfortable and secure.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with complex needs, including autism and ASD.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by children with special educational needs and the strategies to address these.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage children and work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a dedicated approach to supporting children’s educational and personal development.
- Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs, Child Development, or related fields are preferred.
