SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School - Greenwich (Near Woolwich Station)

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Greenwich is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. Located within easy reach of Woolwich Station, this school prides itself on providing tailored support for all learners and fostering a nurturing environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a child in either Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 (depending on your experience), who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The student has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and communication needs, requiring structured support to engage with learning and daily school routines.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day

• Implementing strategies outlined in the student's EHCP

• Supporting the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development

• Liaising with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals

• Helping the pupil access classroom activities and stay on task

• Assisting with visual schedules, sensory breaks, and speech activities

• Experience working with children with SEN (especially ASD or communication needs)

• A calm, positive, and patient approach

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

• A passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners

• Relevant experience in schools or with children (essential); SEN training/qualifications (desirable)
