SEN/SEMH Teaching AssistantSalary: £90-£100 Day RateLocation: LewesJob Type: Long-TermWorking Hours: 08:30-16:00

We are currently working with a special school in East Sussex in thesearch for a dedicated teaching assistant. The school supportschildren with trauma which as you can imagine is a challengingservice, however, they are well facilitated to support these students.Lessons run in small groups or 1 to 1, to support with the emotionaland behavioural difficulties. This is a great time to join the schoolas they have recently received a good Ofsted status.Day to Day of the role:

• Support the Class Teacher in delivering a tailored curriculum thatmeets the individual needs of pupils.
• Assist in creating a safe, stimulating learning environment thatencourages pupils’ emotional, academic, vocational, and physical development.
• Engage with pupils to build resilience and promote independence.
• Participate in the school’s continuous drive for success andcelebration of achievements.
• Liaise with specialist agencies and contribute to the school’scollaborative efforts with external partners.
• Assisting with Individual Education Plans.
• Providing feedback to pupils on progress and achievement underteacher guidance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
• Understanding of the challenges faced by pupils with SEMH andassociated needs.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenand young people.
