We are currently working with a special school in East Sussex in thesearch for a dedicated teaching assistant. The school supportschildren with trauma which as you can imagine is a challengingservice, however, they are well facilitated to support these students.Lessons run in small groups or 1 to 1, to support with the emotionaland behavioural difficulties. This is a great time to join the schoolas they have recently received a good Ofsted status.Day to Day of the role:
- Support the Class Teacher in delivering a tailored curriculum thatmeets the individual needs of pupils.
- Assist in creating a safe, stimulating learning environment thatencourages pupils’ emotional, academic, vocational, and physical development.
- Engage with pupils to build resilience and promote independence.
- Participate in the school’s continuous drive for success andcelebration of achievements.
- Liaise with specialist agencies and contribute to the school’scollaborative efforts with external partners.
- Assisting with Individual Education Plans.
- Providing feedback to pupils on progress and achievement underteacher guidance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by pupils with SEMH andassociated needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenand young people.
