Location: Wolverhampton

Contract Type: Part-time, Permanent

Hours:  23.65 hours per week - flexible to either work 3 days per week or 5 shorter days - Term Time only

Salary: £11.72 p/hr -  £12.78 p/hr depending on experience

Reed is excited to offer an exciting opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join the opening of a school based in Wolverhampton. This is a chance to have a significant impact on the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Support children with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure they have the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.
  • Occasionally assist with care needs and manage positive behaviour, adopting a tailored approach to the individual child.
  • Establish a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils, promoting their safety, enjoyment, learning, independence, and personal development.
  • Support the class teacher by contributing to high-quality educational activities and differentiated experiences, aiming for pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.
  • Be adaptable and flexible, ready to meet the varying needs of a SEN environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own car is desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English Level 3 or above qualification is essential.
  • A recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools or an equivalent is desirable.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of each child.
  • A positive and creative approach to assisting pupils’ individual needs.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain one).
