Location: Village Primary School Near Ashburton

Start Date: end April 2024

Contract: Full-time, Temp to Perm

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEN team. The successful applicant will provide support to a small group of pupils with varying SEN needs and offer 1-1 support to an individual pupil with complex ASC for a few days each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to a small group of pupils with varying SEN needs.
  • Offer 1-1 support to an individual pupil with complex ASC for a few days each week.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to ensure the inclusion and engagement of all pupils in classroom activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff members.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and interventions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or support worker, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Understanding of special educational needs, particularly ASC.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy when working with children with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
