SEN Teacher- Complex Needs

Hours: Full Time, Term Time Only

Salary: £35,000-£45,000

Location: London, N16

A full or part time Complex Needs Teacher is required to work within an independent special school what supports young people aged 2-19.

Our client is committed to providing an outstanding education for all its pupils.? The ethos of the school will meet the needs of the Jewish Community through providing a broad secular and religious education with therapeutic and life skills programmes as an integral part of the school day.

Duties and responsibilities to include:

  • To plan, prepare and deliver a range of lessons and evaluate these activities to inform future learning. You will develop your programmes in line with the National Curriculum and ensure we meet the diverse needs and interests of each child.
  • To maintain individual records for each child based on observation and interaction, in order to monitor and track their progress and as a tool for planning and assessment.
  • To direct the teaching assistant assigned to the class and work supportively and collaboratively as part of this small team.
  • Liaise and work with the therapy team to ensure that therapeutic goals are generalised into the classroom across the day.
  • To work with the Jewish Studies teacher linked to your classroom.
  • To liaise with the SENCO and follow through recommendations. Where appropriate, you will integrate individual and therapeutic goals into your lessons.
  • To work in close partnership with parents.
  • To behave in a warm, friendly yet professional manner towards colleagues, children and parents.
  • To share responsibility with colleagues for the general upkeep of the classroom, to include care of resources and equipment and to encourage the children to do the same.
  • To share responsibility for presentation of the children’s work and for compilation of interest areas and displays.
  • Willingness to assist in personal care needs of the children.
  • To participate fully in all tasks required to run the class smoothly, including preparation of snacks, activities, setting up different areas and clearing up and cleaning after certain activities.
  • To attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • To attend any INSET sessions and/or training for professional development to keep informed of current childcare legislation and practice.
  • To ensure that all the Health and Safety policies are followed.
  • To contribute to and support the schools’ ethos.
  • To uphold all the school’s policies, procedures and ethos.

Salary : 35000 - 45000
