Randstad Education are searching for dedicated teaching assistants to support SEND students in a specialist school setting within Wakefield. We have multiple roles available at 2 partner schools within Wakefield, both day to day, short term roles, and long term cover for the full school term, which means work can be flexible to fit around your schedule, or we can look to secure you a long term work - it is all dependent on what kind of work you are looking for. We can work around YOU!!

There are so many things to love about being an SEN teaching assistant, and even if you haven't worked as a teaching assistant previously, but you have worked with SEND individuals in a similar capacity such as within care, nursing, or other transferable roles, SEN teaching could be a great career path for you! Key responsibilities:

  • Providing educational support to students on a general basis.
  • Working with the teacher and other educational professionals to monitor and review student progress.
  • Communicating effectively with the student, teacher, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that the school's policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Ensuring the safeguarding of all pupils.
  • Upholding the school's values and ethos.
  • Attending faculty meetings.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience working or volunteering with SEND children.
  • Behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to working as part of a team.
  • Caring and empathetic personality
