Location: Dunstable

Hours: Full-Time | Term Time Only | 08:30 - 15:30

Pay: £90 - £100 per day

Contract: Long-Term to Permanent

Are you a recent Psychology or Criminology graduate or an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant looking to support young people with social, emotional, and behavioural needs?

We are working with a forward-thinking and inclusive SEN school in Dunstable that is looking for a passionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. Your Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide tailored support to students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Support teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals in delivering structured, trauma-informed education
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focused on self-regulation, self-esteem, and resilience
  • Act as a positive role model, helping students re-engage with their learning and school community
  • Build trusting relationships that help reduce barriers to learning

What We're Looking For

  • A graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or a related subject (2:1 or above preferred)
  • A passion for supporting young people facing challenges in and out of the classroom
  • Calm, empathetic, and emotionally resilient individuals
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach
  • Ability to travel to and work in Dunstable
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable groups or young people (paid or voluntary) is desirable but not essential
