This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and ASD (autism spectrum disorder), within an all through school setting. The position starts in September and offers full-time, long-term engagement.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Support the class teacher along with other Teaching Assistants in daily classroom activities.
- Provide tailored support to primary age students with SEMH and ASD, ensuring their educational and emotional needs are met.
- Manage challenging behaviours effectively and with confidence.
- Contribute to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with a supportive team to enhance the educational experience of the students.
- Participate in training and development sessions to improve professional skills and understanding of student needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with SEMH and ASD students is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviours.
- A genuine interest in children’s mental health and educational development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and foster a collaborative working environment.
- Commitment to professional growth and development in the field of special education.
