Reed Education is recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEMH primary school in West Sussex. This is a temp-to-permanent opportunity, ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and eager to grow professionally in a structured and supportive environment.

About the School:

The school caters to pupils aged 5–11 with SEMH needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), including ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome. It is part of a wider network of inclusive education providers that support children and young people with a range of complex needs. The school is committed to helping pupils rebuild confidence, develop independence, and flourish both socially and academically through personalised learning and therapeutic support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in preparing differentiated lessons and creating learning materials
  • Support pupils in small groups and 1:1 settings across all curriculum areas
  • Reinforce behavioural, social, and emotional learning strategies
  • Help pupils develop independence and confidence
  • Liaise with teachers, care staff, and external professionals to support pupil progress
  • Participate in educational visits and contribute to creative and practical activities
  • Carry out basic administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and display work

What We’re Looking For:

  • Full-time availability (Monday–Friday, 08:30–16:00)
  • Experience working with children, ideally in an educational or SEMH setting
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management
  • Good ICT skills and ability to support learning with technology
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
