Division SummaryThe Architecture team plays a pivotal role in transforming our IT landscape to support business growth and operational excellence. We ensure robust design and governance processes are applied from concept through to delivery, working closely with business change and IT delivery teams to enable effective, secure, and future-proof solutions.

Job PurposeThe Security Architect will play a key role in safeguarding the organisation's digital assets by ensuring that security is embedded into all technology solutions.

Reporting to the Head of Architecture (with a dotted line to the Head of IT Risk and Cybersecurity), the Security Architect will collaborate closely with application and infrastructure teams to design solutions that meet or exceed our security standards and align with best industry practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a security architecture framework that supports secure business and IT solutions aligned with organisational objectives and threat landscape.

• Define and deliver security architecture governance, ensuring IT projects meet core security principles and align with overall IT strategy.

• Integrate security-by-design principles into project lifecycles across application and infrastructure teams.

• Provide subject matter expertise on security systems, architectures, and emerging cyber threats.

• Lead the development of security principles and contribute to updates of security and technology standards.

• Collaborate with the Technology Risk team to assess and mitigate risks, ensuring frameworks follow best practices in information security.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Security Architect or in a similar role within the insurance or wider financial services sector.

• Strong understanding of security-by-design principles and IT risk management.

• Broad knowledge of modern IT security technologies and infrastructures.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, SABSA, TOGAF) desirable.
