About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic secondary school in Wakefield. This full-time role will begin in September 2025, offering the chance to work in a supportive environment where every child matters and every day brings purpose. You will work under the direction of the SENCO and classroom teachers to provide targeted and general support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Your presence in the classroom, in small group sessions, and through 1:1 support will help raise attainment, build student confidence, and ensure inclusion for all.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or additional needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering effective lessons.
  • Provide 1:1 or small group interventions.
  • Support students with literacy and numeracy.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report student progress to teachers and the SENCO.
  • Prepare resources and materials for lessons.
  • Support students emotionally and socially.
  • Supervise students during break or lunchtime as needed.
