Job summary

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK’s continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent (CASD), and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence. At least one of four nuclear-armed submarines, supported by smaller attack submarines, is on patrol at all times: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Do you have a talent for turning ideas into compelling digital content? Are you ready to use your creativity to help tell the story of one of the UK’s most vital defence organisations? If so, we’re looking for a Content Creator to join our small but dynamic communications team, where your work will help shape how we connect with internal and external audiences.

The SDA plays a vital role in supporting the UK’s national security by delivering and maintaining the Royal Navy’s submarine capabilities. Our work is complex, high-profile, and deeply impactful and we know that clear, engaging communication is key to building trust and understanding with our stakeholders.

As a Content Creator, you’ll be at the heart of our communications strategy, producing engaging, high-quality content that brings the SDA’s vision, purpose and achievements to life. From writing compelling copy to designing eye-catching visuals and editing video content, you’ll help deliver campaigns that resonate with audiences and reflect the SDA’s brand and values.

You’ll also support the management of our digital channels, ensuring they are optimised for performance and aligned with our communications goals. Working closely with the Social Media Manager and other team members, you’ll help evaluate campaign success, explore emerging trends, and contribute to a culture of creativity and continuous improvement. We are committed to your development, you’ll learn from our team of enthusiastic and experienced communications professionals, supplemented by bespoke technical training where appropriate.

Hybrid and flexible working can be considered for this post. Regular workplace attendance is required for collaboration and learning as well as access to some specific office-based systems. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before submitting an application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write engaging copy that communicates our key messages clearly and effectively
  • Create compelling visual content including video, motion graphics, and static visuals that reflect SDA’s brand and messaging
  • Support the Social Media Manager in managing and optimising digital channels
  • Track and evaluate campaign performance to inform future content strategies
  • Stay up to date with digital trends and contribute innovative ideas to enhance SDA’s digital presence
  • Assist in organising and delivering stakeholder engagement events
  • Create content for, and support the management of, internal digital channels
  • Ensure consistency in tone, style, and branding across all content
Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Have experience drafting engaging written copy for a range of digital channels
  • Have the skills to create compelling, visual content (including video and static visuals)
  • Have experience building relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, within a collaborative team environment
  • Hold a post-graduate certificate in marketing, digital or communications or equivalent

While not required, your application would benefit from the following:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
