Science/Lab Technician - Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited : Job Details

The Agency

Hays is one of the market-leading agencies in the Education sector in Cheltenham and is currently actively recruiting for a Science/Lab Technician to support science teachers during classes at a secondary school in Cheltenham.

What you will be doing/ your responsibilities:

• Supporting science teachers and students during classes by providing equipment and resources for demonstration, class practical work, assessments and examinations
• Keeping and setting-up equipment in a clean and serviceable condition (including disposing waste, working with chemicals, insects, animals and paperwork)
• Assessing for risk and advising relevant staff
• Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced and that everything is clearly and correctly labelled
• Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks

What you'll need to succeed, skills and competencies:

• Following rules and instructions
• Supporting teachers and pupils with empathy and inquisitive nature
• Excellent organisation skills
• Ability to assess, identify and report relevant risk
• Detail-oriented nature to ensure cleanliness and orderliness

Essential:

• Previous experience as a Science/Lab Technician or equivalent (within the past 5 years)
