Unqualified School Support Buddies

Harpurhey, Manchester

£93-£100 Per Day (salary is dependent on experience and qualifications)

Term time only, five days per week, Potential to go into September 2024

The roleMilk Education are a 5 star rated education recruitment company. We have partnered with a school in Harpurhey, who are looking to appoint unqualified School support staff to start with them ASAP. This is a full time, term time only. This role is a great opportunity to join a school if unqualified and want to make a difference. You do not need to hold a formal qualification for this role, we are looking for candidates that have transferable skills and experience (including volunteering) with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) or experience with children.

Requirements

To be considered for the position of an Unqualified School Support Buddy you must:

  • You must have transferable skills
  • Have an expert knowledge of working with different types of environment
  • Be passionate and understanding
  • Have an understanding and knowledge of SEMH
  • Have recent experience working with children
  • You must either have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to get one through us here at Milk Education.

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Work as a mentor (1-1 and in groups) with a view to helping them develop skills that equip them to better manage their behaviour and work constructively with others.
  • Plan and facilitate structured games and activities to support pupils to make appropriate choices during unstructured times such as lunch and break times.
  • Encourage the inclusion of this pupil with SEMH needs by using positive behaviour management techniques designed to develop the pupil’s ability to behave appropriately with the inclusion of behaviour management strategies set in place by the school.
  • Provide specific support to this pupil dependent upon their individual needs and implement strategies to support this pupil with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties
  • Model, within the class, support strategies that will encourage and develop appropriate behaviour in a variety of settings i.e. with individuals and group/whole class
  • Model group-based activities that will develop this pupil’s problem-solving, listening, and social skills
