Job Description :

Empowering Learning are seeking to recruit a School Science Technician to provide a support service to an expanding science department, enabling a safe and well-equipped environment for practical work that will support the teaching of science to all pupils. The school is located in Scunthorpe and the role is a full-time, temp-to-permanent appointment, starting immediately.

Science is a key department in their journey to becoming an 'Outstanding' school.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a team of 2, in a department with 8 science teachers and labs, and with 2 well-resourced prep rooms. The role will involve ensuring that classrooms are equipped and prepared for lessons (including the preparation of materials, apparatus or specimens that may be required for demonstrations or practical work), maintaining appropriate levels of materials/resources, and cleaning and maintaining apparatus and equipment where necessary.

Essential for the Role:

  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, including English and Maths GCSE at grades A* to C
  • Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Have sound knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety regulations, including COSHH.

Preferable:

  • Have had previous experience as a Biology or Chemistry Science Lab Technician within a school/further education science department and be educated to a minimum A-level standard with a science related subject.
  • Have knowledge of school procedures.
