Job Title: School Caretaker

Salary: £14 - £18 Per hour (depends on experience)

The School is a welcoming, community-focused school where children are encouraged to thrive in a safe and supportive environment. We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Caretaker to ensure our school site and facilities are well-maintained, secure, and fit for purpose.

The Role

As our School Caretaker, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day upkeep of the school buildings and grounds, working closely with staff to provide a safe, clean, and pleasant learning environment for pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the security of the school premises, including opening and locking up.
• Carrying out general repairs, maintenance, and basic DIY tasks.
• Monitoring heating, lighting, and utilities to ensure efficient use.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas including playgrounds and car parks.
• Supervising contractors and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
• Supporting school staff with setting up for events and activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Must have maintenance / general DIY experience
• Ideally worked in a school but not essential
• Practical, hands-on, and able to carry out a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks.
• Responsible, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
• Flexible and willing to respond to the needs of the school.
• A good communicator who can work well with staff, children, and visitors.
• Knowledgeable about health and safety procedures (training will be provided if necessary).
