Safe Accommodation Floating Support Officer

  • Hourly Rate: £12.85 PAYE
  • Location: Halifax, HX1
  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Hybrid)

Join our dedicated team as a Safe Accommodation Floating Support Officer, providing crucial support to individuals in their own homes to ensure safety and maintenance of tenancies. This role involves flexible working on a rota basis, including evenings and weekends, and requires regular visits to clients' homes across various locations within the Borough.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide specialist floating support to clients, particularly those referred to the Sanctuary Scheme or transitioning from Safe Accommodation/Refuge.
  • Assess and identify client needs to develop and implement holistic, multidisciplinary support plans.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk/safety assessments in line with Calderdale Safeguarding policies, including the Calderdale DASH risk assessment.
  • Assist clients transitioning from Safe Accommodation/Refuge, including organizing utilities, furniture, and linking to other services for ongoing support.
  • Ensure clients comply with their tenancy agreements and assist with budgeting to ensure rent and bills are paid.
  • Assist clients in obtaining legal advice and interventions such as injunctions/non-molestation orders.
  • Plan and arrange case meetings and reviews, acting as the 'Lead professional' in Child Protection conferences and Child In Need meetings when appropriate.
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate case records, both written and electronic.
  • Develop and deliver regular therapeutic support activities, focusing on improving clients' and their children's emotional wellbeing, if applicable.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in Social Care, Health, or Housing, or a relevant Level 3 qualification with proven experience.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Experience working directly with vulnerable adults.
  • Experience dealing with individuals with drug, alcohol, or mental health needs.
  • Ability to prioritise and respond effectively to crises.
  • Influential and motivational communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of domestic abuse impacts on adults and trauma-informed care approaches.
  • Familiarity with welfare benefits and the application processes.
