Reward Manager

As part of our continued growth, we are expanding our People team and looking for a passionate and strategic Reward Manager who will play a pivotal role in defining and executing our compensation and benefits strategy.
This newly created role offers a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to take ownership of the company’s reward framework across the UK, ensuring it aligns with our business objectives and supports our long-term vision for growth.
About the Role
As our Reward Manager, you will operate at both strategic and operational levels, partnering with senior leadership, the broader People team, and operational colleagues to create a robust and equitable rewards strategy. You will deliver innovative reward solutions that support over 5,100 colleagues across a large, unionised workforce, while harmonising rewards across a diverse and evolving organisational structure.
This is a standalone role suited to someone comfortable working with autonomy and who brings a balance of technical reward knowledge, analytical skill, and strategic vision.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Partner with senior operational and People leaders to design and execute a compelling Group reward, compensation and benefits strategy.
- Lead job benchmarking, job evaluation, and grading processes to ensure fair and accurate remuneration.
- Oversee the procurement, implementation, and management of benefits packages (health & wellbeing, EAP, salary sacrifice schemes, etc.).
- Design and deliver annual pay reviews, incentive schemes, and performance-based reward programmes.
- Use analytical tools to interpret compensation data, identify trends, and present strategic insights to senior leadership.
- Ensure all reward and benefits policies are compliant with relevant legislation and internal governance.
- Lead on TUPE-related harmonisation across newly acquired businesses.
- Develop job levels, role grading frameworks, and competency structures.
- Drive the roll-out of the annual reward and recognition programme in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Support strategic change initiatives, including organisational design and development projects.
- Deliver high-quality reports to the Executive Board and Remuneration Committee.
- Collaborate with Internal Communications to ensure successful messaging and rollout of reward strategies.
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive experience in reward management within a large, complex, and unionised organisation.
- Proven success designing and implementing reward and benefits strategies that support performance and retention.
- Experience managing reward across a business undergoing change, such as mergers or acquisitions.
- In-depth knowledge of compensation structures, tax-efficient schemes, salary sacrifice, and UK employment law.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to guide evidence-based decisions.
- Skilled in job evaluation methodologies (e.g., Hay, Mercer), salary benchmarking, and market analysis.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and communicate with senior leaders.
- Ability to manage complex reward cycles end-to-end, including pay reviews, benefits design, and incentive plans.
- Experience leading large-scale reward projects on time and to budget.
- Comfortable working autonomously and proactively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- CIPD or equivalent qualification in Strategic HR or Reward Management (Desirable)
- Familiarity with reward platforms or analytics tools (e.g., SuccessFactors, Workday, Mercer).
