Job Description :

LondonEnergy operate 6 Reuse and Recycling Centres on behalf of North London Waste Authority, the role of RRC Manager is focused on all aspects of the day-to-day operations , ensuring the highest Safety, Health and Environmental standards and customer service across the sites.

The RRC Contracts Manager will have the knowledge and experience to seek out recycling opportunities and initiatives to maximise site recycling rates whilst engaging the team to  play a key role in interacting with the site users, providing education and information to them, making small changes to change human behaviours.

We are looking for an individual with experience of Recycling Centre services and who is a strong manager with proven people management skills, with the ability  to successfully lead, develop, coach and enable them to work autonomously and confidently as a team.

Responsible for the following LondonEnergy sites:

  • Hornsey Street, N7
  • Regis Road, NW5
  • Western Road, N22
  • Summers Lane, N12
  • South Access Road, E17
  • King's Road, E4
  • Kings Road ReUse Shop, E4

Compliance

  • To drive operational excellence of the site in compliance with its permit, license and any other legal requirements
  • To ensure that all issues relating to the Environment Agency including Waste Tonnage returns are dealt with appropriately and recorded as required.
  • To ensure that the operation and site complies with health and safety requirements at all times.

Operations Management

  • Leading and supporting the RRC teams to consistently achieve high-level of customer service through monitoring and training
  • Visibility leading, developing and improving the health, safety and environmental culture (Reducing incidents and increasing reporting)
  • To manage departmental budget and ensuring best value practices are implemented at all times and costs controlled effectively and achieve budgeted levels of throughput and maximum profitability on recycled products.
  • To make proposals for business development and efficiency improvement  relating to all site activities, maximising site recycling rates and ensure that such improvements are undertaken effectively and in line with company procedures.
  • To undertake  procurement processes including creating tender specifications, tender evaluations and implementation of new product contracts
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders and contractors. Ensuring contracts are effectively managed inline with agreed KPI's.
  • Participate in the development of new projects to be launched, and lead project implementation, as requested including acquisition of new sites.

People Management

  • Lead a team to provide a positive customer experience by educating customers in correct segregation of materials
  • To ensure all staff operate in a safe and effective manner including identifying and implementing training requirements.
  • Ensure robust succession planning and implementation of effective personal development plans throughout the team
  • To resolve any employee relations issue at the earliest opportunity and provide motivation and leadership to all site personnel.
  • Build key internal relationships at all levels across a number of departments within LEL

Requirements

  • To demonstrate a good understanding of health & safety requirements,
  • To demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coach and develop others
  • The ability to work in a pressurized environment
  • To demonstrate effective organizational and team leadership skills.
  • Confident with work on their own initiative
  • Previous experience managing several Recycling Centres desirable.
  • Relevant professional experience, including managing a mixed skills team in a busy and demanding environment.
  • Analytical and able to quickly assess issues and recommend and/or implement solutions.
  • Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships.

Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Must hold a relevant Certificate of Technical Competency (CoTC)
  • Working knowledge of managing waste legislation.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH would be desirable
