Retail Sales Manager – Convenience Sector

We have an exciting opportunity for a driven Retail Sales Manager to spearhead growth in the Convenience Retail sector, focusing on independent store owners, shopfitting contractors, and retail equipment wholesalers. This is a high-impact role with strong autonomy and the opportunity to shape the future of our retail channel across key regions.
Base and geographical area:
You will be based at home with approximately 80% travel throughout the Midlands and North of the UK. There may be occasional travel to Scotland. There will be an average of one night overnight stay per week.
The role:
Reporting to the Head of Retail, you will proactively identify, engage, and secure new business opportunities with independent convenience retailers, shopfitters, and wholesalers through high-volume prospecting and relationship building. You’ll maintain and expand existing customer relationships, ensuring long-term loyalty and increased market share.
Collaborating with the Head of Retail, you’ll define and execute a clear growth strategy aligned with company objectives and market trends and gather and analyse competitive insights to assess market potential, identify emerging opportunities, and inform strategic decisions.
About you:
As our Retail Sales Manager, you’ll be a seasoned sales professional with a proven track record in both B2B and B2C face-to-face selling. With experience within the building products sector and an established network of industry contacts, you’ll be a highly motivated self-starter, confident in dynamic selling environments and skilled in new business development. You’ll thrive on challenge, be driven by results, and possess the commercial acumen to identify and convert opportunities into long-term partnerships.
As a largely autonomous, field-based position, success hinges on your ability to influence key decision-makers, from independent retail end users to project stakeholders such as contractors and wholesalers. The role demands a high level of resilience and tenacity, particularly given the competitive nature of the sector and geographical territory.
