Position Overview: We are actively seeking a Remote Costs Draftsman to become an integral part of their growing team. As a Costs Draftsman, you will play a vital role in the preparation of cost budgets, bills of costs, and providing crucial financial support to the legal teams. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the efficient management of costs associated with legal cases and contributing to the overall success of the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Budgeting: You will be responsible for preparing comprehensive cost budgets that adhere to court regulations and guidelines, ensuring precision and completeness.
Bills of Costs: Drafting clear, accurate bills of costs for assessment while complying with relevant legal procedures and legislation.
Costs Negotiation: Engaging in cost negotiations with opposing parties when required, advocating for favorable outcomes on behalf of clients.
Costs Management: Assisting in the effective management and monitoring of legal costs throughout the lifespan of a case.
Legal Aid and Funding: Providing guidance on legal aid applications, legal funding agreements, and related financial aspects.
Client Communication: Maintaining transparent and effective communication with clients, offering cost-related advice and addressing their inquiries.
Legal Research: Staying updated with changes in cost law, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance.
Billing Systems: Utilising and maintaining billing software and systems to manage costs and billing data accurately.
Qualifications:
- 2 - 5 years experience as a Costs Draftsman
- Strong knowledge of relevant cost law and legal procedures.
- Proficiency in utilising legal costs drafting software and billing systems.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Self-motivated, with the capability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Willingness and capability to work remotely and efficiently utilise remote collaboration tools.
