Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Children’s Nurse (RCN). The post-holder will deliver high-quality, family-centered care to infants, children, and young people, supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing throughout their hospital journey. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, evidence-based practice and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for children and young people with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in line with NMC guidelines and hospital policies.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, clinical conditions, and progress, responding promptly to any deterioration.
Family & Child Support
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with children, parents, and carers.
- Offer emotional support, education, and reassurance to families throughout the care process.
- Encourage parental involvement in decision-making and bedside care where appropriate.
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns as necessary.
- Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times.
- Ensure safe use of medical equipment and report any faults or incidents.
Professional Development
- Maintain NMC registration and comply with revalidation requirements.
- Participate in mandatory training, clinical updates, and reflective practice.
- Support the orientation and mentoring of junior staff, students, or healthcare assistants.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Children’s Nurse (Child Branch) with NMC registration or Registered Nurse with experience in Pediatric wards.
- Experience in an NHS or similar acute pediatric setting (desirable for Band 5).
- High level of communication, compassion, and family-centered care skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, priorities care and respond effectively to clinical emergencies.
