Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Chester with their September recruitment as this school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable teaching assistant to support their reception and KS1 classes. This is a long-term temporary contract that will last until the end of the academic year. You will play an integral part of the reception and KS1 team, offering 1:1 phonics and SEN support across the classes.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting the reception and KS1 class teachers and playing an integral part in the education of a number of pupils across the classes. You will offer 1:1 support across reception and KS1 on a timetable basis, delivering 1:1 phonics and SEN support. A number of pupils in the classes have fallen behind on phonics and, as such, have struggled to access the curriculum. You will liaise with the class teachers and deliver bespoke phonics interventions using the RWI phonics scheme, letter and sounds and other means, to help bring pupils up to speed and access the curriculum, ensuring that all pupils reach their full academic potential. As well as offering bespoke phonics interventions, you will also offer 1:1 SEN support. Their 4 pupils, 2 in the reception class, 1 in year 1 and 1 in year 2 that have EHCP's with learning disabilities, and selective mutism. You will take a lead on their speech and language support, offering phonics interventions, speech and language interventions and utilising PECs and other communicative aids within a separate classroom. You will actively track their progress, liaise with the class teacher and recognise key milestones, with the aim of assisting them to access the full curriculum.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience, be at minimum Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified, and:
