What it's like to work here

Working as Ranger for the West Lakes you will be responsible for the maintenance and conservation management of a large area within the portfolio. Working in some of the nation’s most stunning places and spaces, come rain or shine, your love of the outdoors will inspire others as you strive to ensure the land in our care is managed in a way which is sustainable, balancing conservation, farming and public access.

What you'll be doing

As Ranger for Wasdale and Ennerdale within the West Lakes you will be responsible for the protection and care of habitats, wildlife, property and machinery, and your passion will inspire others to love this beautiful place as much as you do. Tasks will include dry stone walling, fencing, tree planting, hedge laying, footpath maintenance as well as contributing towards our monitoring program.

We want you to form lasting relationships with our tenant farmers, partners, colleagues and visitors. We want you to engage with visitors, making time to talk to them, not rushing away to the next task.  As an easily identifiable member of the Ranger team, on your best day you will be creating lasting memories for everyone, firing the imagination that makes a visitor become a supporter for life.
