Our client is a leading Principal M+E & Piping Contractor based in Yorkshire, with a strong portfolio of projects and frameworks across the nation. They pride ourselves on delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical, and piping solutions to clients in various sectors.

Job Description:They are currently searching for seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join the team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of our projects and frameworks, ensuring they are delivered within budget and to the highest standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Manage project costs from inception to completion, including budget preparation, cost forecasting, and regular cost reporting.

  • Procurement: Oversee procurement processes, including sourcing materials and subcontractors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

  • Contract Administration: Administer contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring all parties fulfill their obligations and resolving any disputes that may arise.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks related to cost, schedule, and quality through proactive risk assessment and management strategies.

  • Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for value engineering, optimising project costs without compromising quality or performance.

  • Change Management: Assess and manage changes to project scope, specifications, and requirements, ensuring that any variations are properly documented and approved.

  • Cost Control: Implement robust cost control measures to monitor project expenditures, identify variances, and take corrective actions as necessary to keep projects on track financially.

  • Final Account Settlement: Prepare and negotiate final accounts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring all parties are fairly compensated for the work performed.

  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
    • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, preferably with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and piping projects.
    • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management principles.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
    • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as MS Excel, MS Project, and industry-specific quantity surveying software.
